SolarWinds Uplift and Cisco ISE for Justice Digital
Delivered a wholesale uplift of Justice Digital's SolarWinds monitoring estate covering 12,000 network and server devices, while introducing Cisco ISE for network access control across prisons, courts and headquarters.
The Challenge
Legacy SolarWinds build had capacity limits, duplicated nodes and no modern security hardening. Limited internal expertise with Cisco ISE, with policies needed live before full insourcing. High-security environment (PSN/CJSM) demanded zero downtime and SC cleared engineers throughout.
Our Solution
Deployed a squad to audit, rationalise and rebuild SolarWinds on a hardened, high-availability architecture. Automated discovery scripts and IaC pipelines (Ansible/Terraform) enabled onboarding approximately 400 devices per day. Created detailed runbooks and executed a phased cutover, syncing with the outgoing MSP to ensure continuity. Designed Cisco ISE architecture and authored role-based policy sets.
The Outcome
Enabled an efficient ecosystem for internal staff to work with the third-party supply chain. Large data pool successfully transferred from an outdated solution to a simplified new platform. Improved public sector funds reporting and a robust solution to expand further commercial opportunities.
